#MightyDungeons is an addictive and fun dungeon crawler that plays like a tabletop rpg (think D&D) on your Android and iOS devices. This is more of a board game simulator than video game but it is very well done with lots of features. Potions, spells, weapons, armor, trinkets and pets there is a lot going on here. The artwork is well done, decent enough sound fx and the devs continue to update it. This game is certainly a niche title but it scratches my fantasy itch.
A couple of features I really love is the option to play it turned based, perma-death on/off and the option to stay in a dungeon after I finished my quest so I can continue to explore/kill/loot. The difficulty can be adjusted on several levels…you have the standard difficulty setting but in extras panel you can turn mob group-up bonus on/off and even your hero choice affects how challenging the game will be. For example the Golem is a beast of a hero while the skeleton is very weak. You have settings that make mobs stronger or your hero faster when you first start a new game. I would like to have the ability to change those mid-game but that’s not a deal breaker. You can also run multiple games so you can have a game setup for casual play and also games that are increasingly difficult for a more challenging session.There are even some more modern touches like a shared bank space between your heroes, achievements and achievement points that can be used to upgrade your hero. You can even target specific parts of a mob for increased damage but lower hit chance. Lots of little things that when added up increase this game’s value and replayability.
The game is well tuned for mobile play with dungeons taking 5-10 minutes to complete. For me it’s a game that I can pickup while I’m waiting for an appointment or one I can dive into for an hour or more. It’s well worth the couple of bucks they are asking for it.
